About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team at Youi HQ in Sippy Downs on a 13-month maternity leave contract.

In this role, you’ll support the delivery of accurate financial reporting by managing reconciliations, general ledger activities, and day-to-day accounting processes. You’ll play an important role in keeping financial operations running smoothly, working closely with stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare general ledger journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations and resolve variances
• Support claims recovery accounting and banking processes
• Maintain the fixed assets register, including depreciation and asset tracking
• Assist with accounts payable tasks such as invoice and credit card processing
• Support audit requests, reporting and stakeholder queries
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, controls and standards
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies

Experience & Knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or similar (completed or in progress (desired))
• Around 3+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role preferred
• Strong experience with reconciliations and general ledger processes
• Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Exposure to insurance or financial services is advantageous but not essential
