Purpose of the role 

Lead and empower cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions that meet business needs and architectural standards. As Engineering Manager, you will champion strong engineering practices, agile and DevOps excellence, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key priorities 

• Lead and inspire high-performing, cross-functional engineering teams aligned with Youi’s mission and values.
• Foster a growth mindset and culture of continuous learning, innovation, and accountability.
• Champion strong engineering practices, adherence to standards, and effective architecture governance.
• Drive DevOps maturity, automation, and operational excellence across all solutions.
• Partner with Product and Delivery teams to ensure efficient, sustainable, and value-driven delivery.
• Use metrics and data to guide decisions, monitor performance, and continuously improve outcomes.
• Coach and mentor engineering leads, promoting capability growth and knowledge sharing.
• Manage technical risk, debt, and compliance with all relevant development policies.
• Promote collaboration, inclusion, and servant leadership across teams and disciplines.
• Model Youi’s cultural values, embedding trust, transparency, and safety in all work practices.

About you - Experience & Knowledge:

• Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s in IT, Engineering, Business, or related field; meets ASIC “Fit and Proper Person” requirements.
• Proven experience (7+ years) leading engineering teams and delivering outcomes through agile methodologies.
• Strong grasp of agile and product management principles, applying them effectively in software development.
• Exceptional leadership and people management skills, inspiring high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across all levels of the organisation.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills focused on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Deep understanding of technology best practices, compliance, and security standards.
